Residential Landscape Designer & Estimator

Art of the EarthFull-TimeGarden City, ID

Own the full residential opportunity lifecycle from first design through approved estimate, and a clean hand off to the project management team for Art of the Earth's residential design-build division. This role blends design and estimating to convert homeowner demand into sold, buildable, profitable projects spanning softscape, hardscape, outdoor living structures, water features, and pools across the Treasure Valley.

What You'll Do

  • Own residential design requests passed from our sales team, design the yard per the client's budget and specifications, and turn around a design with an estimate. Review incoming design requests promptly and keep disciplined, documented progress notes on every open request
  • Conduct on-site visits and measurements as needed to capture site conditions, grades, drainage, access, and existing features
  • Develop practical, buildable design concepts across softscape, hardscape, outdoor living, water features, and pools
  • Prepare complete, accurate estimates using company line-item standards, unit rates, and margin discipline
  • Confirm constructability, labor, and cost with operations before the design and estimate are released to sales
  • Deliver design and estimate packages to sales on committed turnaround times, with clear scope, inclusions, and exclusions
  • Revise designs and estimates as clients adjust scope or budget, and maintain version control on every revision
  • Deliver clean handoff packages to operations and stay available to support the field during installation
  • Track design requests in progress and report throughput, turnaround times, and backlog aging weekly to the General Manager
  • Document the repeatable residential design-to-handoff workflow as the division's standard.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in residential landscaping, landscape construction, or design-build
  • Track record of homeowner-facing consultative sales with measurable conversion or revenue results
  • Strong estimating and pricing skills — complete scopes, unit rates, production rates, margin protection
  • Practical design capability with proficiency in residential landscape design software
  • Proficiency with estimating, proposal, and CRM platforms plus disciplined documentation habits
  • Strong organization and follow-up across multiple concurrent opportunities
  • Able to work independently in the field while communicating with leadership and operations
  • Degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, construction management, or equivalent experience is a plus but not required
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel the service territory in all seasons
